Announcing Grove: Aspen Discovery development for libraries

Grove

July 31, 2024. Announcing the formation of Grove, a library software development company focusing on Aspen Discovery, at www.groveforlibraries.com.

With more than 1,200 libraries using Aspen Discovery, there is an increasing demand for development to meet individual and collective library needs.

Jordan Fields and Mark Noble plan to work closely with ByWater Solutions on meeting the development ideas of their Aspen partners in addition to working directly with libraries to execute on their needs and visions.

Aspen Discovery

Jordan Fields, Grove co-founder commented:

While ByWater has been steadfastly focused on best-in-class support and hosting for Aspen Discovery, libraries have needed a dedicated place to go to help bring their ideas for new Aspen features to life. Whether that's expanding any of Aspen's existing offerings or working with us on completely new development, I look forward to partnering with the entire Aspen community to build Aspen's future together.

Nate Curulla, ByWater Solutions commented:

Mark and Jordan have been instrumental in the development and growth of Aspen with ByWater over the past 5 years. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with them by collaborating on new feature developments for Aspen, as well as supporting mutual library partners through Community participation and collaboration. This move will strengthen the Aspen Community and the project as a whole and we wish them the very best!

Grove's co-founders have more than 30 collective years in library software experience, including 20+ years working on Aspen and its open-source precursors. In addition to development, Grove will focus on volunteer work for the Aspen Community, with Mark Noble hosting free weekly office hours to help onboard new developers and community members to Aspen.

Mark Noble, Grove co-founder commented:

Throughout Aspen's history we have focused on working with libraries to turn their visions into reality. Over the last 5 years the growth in demand for Aspen has risen dramatically, and with that demand libraries have suggested many new features for Aspen. I'm excited to work with the Aspen community to implement these ideas.

Grove offers monthly and quarterly development packages to solve smaller issues as well as bespoke custom quotes for larger projects. Libraries and consortia interested in working with Grove can find them at www.groveforlibraries.com.
