Logan Library is now using Library.Solution as its integrated library system (ILS) and TLC.Go! for its mobile app from The Library Corporation (TLC). TLC completed the migration services from the SirsiDynix ILS for the high-circulating single-site library earlier this year. The library is looking forward to taking advantage of the seamless connection between the ILS and mobile app.
Located in Logan, Utah, the library serves about 55,000 residents with approximately 113,000 titles. It has been operating at a temporary location while waiting for construction to be completed on a new 35,000-square-foot building. Historical circulation has been around 700,000 per year, prior to the pandemic and construction. The staff and community can now look forward to a building, ILS, and mobile app that can handle the amount of potentially enormous traffic the library receives.
Unhappy with the experience with their previous ILS, library staff began searching for a new system. Karen Clark, Director of Logan Library, explained, "Our main reason for choosing TLC is we wanted a vendor that was more responsive to our questions." TLC provides industry-leading support services across all products at all stages.
The library also hoped to improve in other areas, as Clark continued, "We wanted a better OPAC experience for our patrons, we wanted an app for our patrons, and we were ready to make some changes. We needed to find a system that fit our budget better and was a better fit for our patrons and staff."
Library staff appreciated the attention provided during the migration to Library.Solution. Clark shared, "I was pleased with how smoothly most of it went and how we were able to solve problems quickly. The team was so responsive to our questions and concerns." Clark's comments mirror those of countless customers who value the TLC's commitment to ensuring library staff are comfortable and experienced in making the transition smooth for their patrons.
Once the ILS was in place, the library began the process of implementing TLC.Go!, the feature-rich mobile app available via Android and iOS. TLC.Go! allows patrons to manage their library account, place holds, renew items, and access library resources – all at their fingertips. The library appreciated the seamless compatibility between Library.Solution and TLC.Go! and knows that the new products have already enriched the library experience for the community. Debbie Ogilvie, Librarian at Logan Library, said, "Overall it's been a very positive move. I love seeing patrons use the app when I'm out in town, not at work."
"Libraries often seek us out after hearing about our stellar reputation for customer support and seamless connections," said Annette Murphy, CEO at TLC. "TLC libraries stay with us for many years for our commitment to high-quality service." Staff and patrons alike appreciate the power and usability of TLC products, which is especially helpful at high-circulating locations. TLC strives to make the process of finding and checking out materials more effective and enjoyable for all.
