"We took this release as a chance to work on a number of quality of life updates for Aspen patrons and librarians. We know that it's important to keep making consistent positive tweaks to how everyone interacts with Aspen in order for it to continue to satisfy and delight users. The 23.09 release includes dozens of these kinds of updates as well as a few fun surprises."
- Jordan Fields, Aspen Product Librarian
There's something for everyone in this release of Aspen, here's just a few examples:
- With so many reports available in Aspen's backend administration, many libraries have requested the ability to download all of that data into CSV files for further analysis. This functionality is now available for nearly all administrative settings tables.
- Consortium and library administrators already have many tools for managing roles and permissions in Aspen and now they have the option to lock down any individual field to prevent editing no matter what roles or permissions have been assigned to the user.
- Aspen's Web Builder now includes Quick Polls, a basic poll utility that will allow administrators to build a simple poll and quickly engage with patrons to get a pulse on trending topics and questions.
- When patrons forget their barcodes, they now have the ability to retrieve them by text with Twilio for both Aspen Discovery and LiDA
These updates are less than 10% of the total updates in the 23.09 release, so be sure to check out the complete release notes!
