National Museums Scotland chooses Koha open source library management system, hosted and supported by PTFS Europe.

August 2023. National Museums Scotland has chosen Koha as its new Library Management System, to replace the previous Symphony system.

PTFS Europe has implemented the new system and will provide on-going hosting and support services to National Museums Scotland Library to ensure its success in supporting these collections into the future.

About Koha Library Management System

With over 15,000 systems worldwide, Koha is one of the most widely used Library Management Systems (LMS) in the world. Koha is entirely web-based for both staff and public functions. This helps make the system light, easy to use, easy to deploy and easy to manage.

Koha's impressive feature set continues to evolve and expand to meet the needs of its user base. It includes modules for circulation, cataloguing, acquisitions, serials, course reserves, user management, inter library loans, and more.

Fiona Borthwick, Head of Sales and Account Management at PTFS Europe:

We are delighted to have National Museums Scotland join us as a new customer. They are now part of our growing community of major museum libraries that work with us. National Museum Scotland's extensive collection can now easily be accessed through their Koha library catalogue. Implementing Koha will support the continued development of and access to their collection.

National Museums Scotland is one of the leading museum groups in the UK and Europe. PTFS Europe is thrilled to supply the Koha library solution and look forward to seeing how the library team utilise the system to further enhance use of collections at this prestigious museum group.
