Press Release: OpenAIRE [November 1, 2022]

New partnership between DOAJ and OpenAIRE will make research more accessible

DOAJ and OpenAIRE are pleased to announce a new partnership which will promote collaboration and discovery between the two parties, by sharing metadata and enriching it.

The collaboration aims to enhance the discoverability of the journals indexed in DOAJ in two ways: by enhancing DOAJ's article metadata with metadata from the OpenAIRE Research Graph; and by enabling OpenAIRE to include in the Research Graph the diverse range of journals that DOAJ indexes, thereby increasing the discovery of research in science, technology, medicine, social sciences, arts and humanities from all languages and countries. With this collaboration, DOAJ will become a service registered to the OpenAIRE Catalogue of Services and integrated into EOSC Resources Catalogue.

"OpenAIRE is a key ally for DOAJ as we strive to open up access to quality research around the globe. The provision of enriched metadata is an important part of our vision and this collaboration will be an important step forward in ensuring that research is discoverable and accessible to anyone who needs it." Joanna Ball, Managing Director, DOAJ

"Including DOAJ in the OpenAIRE Catalogue of services fosters the benefits of a scholarly communication infrastructure that grounds on open and trusted data sources and services via OpenAIRE and the EOSC. Under this collaboration, DOAJ and OpenAIRE will ensure service and data interoperability to provide the research community with transparent, more qualitative, and reusable metadata about Open Access journal articles at the global level." Paolo Maghi, Chief Technology Officer, OpenAIRE
