Rochester City School District selects Library.Solution for Schools

Rochester City School District (RCSD) has selected The Library Corporation (TLC) for its new library software. As an alternative to Follett Destiny, TLC will provide Library.Solution for Schools to the district. RCSD was able to leverage its membership in the New York State DREAM Consortium to choose TLC as the preferred vendor. The library management system will be live in the school libraries at the end of August 2022.

"One of the key factors in our decision to change from Follett Destiny to TLC Library.Solution was the vast selection of ready-made reports available to us," shared Dr. Colleen Sadowski, Director of School Library System & Media Services at Rochester City School District. "In New York, we submit an annual report to the state every year, and TLC has created reports that will make this much easier to provide the data the state requests. If we find we need something different, TLC will build reports specifically for us."

Dr. Sadowski added, "In speaking with current long-time users of Library.Solution, they provided only positive feedback on TLC's customer service and technical support. We are looking forward to working with TLC for years to come."

Librarians in the district are eager to get students interested in the new library management system. To start promoting it, RCSD created t-shirts using Scout, the mascot for LS2 Kids — TLC's online catalog for early readers. "My compliments to your designer," shared Dr. Melissa Frost, School Librarian with RCSD. "It is Scout with the book image that really makes the shirt."

The age-appropriate catalog options will also include OPAC enrichment via Syndetics Unbound. Librarians will have access to ITS.MARC, TLC's online copy cataloging resource with over 81 million records. The combination of services will allow students to easily search and find their resources quickly.

TLC will host RCSD's library management system using TLC.Cloud Services. The Oracle-based cloud platform complies with New York Educational Law Section 2-d for student data privacy.

"Our dedication to protecting student data is at the forefront of our development practices," said Annette Murphy, TLC's CEO. "Rochester City School District can expect excellence from TLC."

As an awarded vendor of the DREAM Consortium, TLC will also provide RFID equipment to RCSD through its Tech Logic subsidiary. For more information on TLC's full suite of library services, contact sales@tlcdelivers.com.
