Evergreen Users Gather Online for 2022 Conference

The Evergreen International Conference 2022 drew 225 attendees for three days of presentations and discussions online in June.

The conference featured two tracks with 31 sessions and was preceded by a day of in-depth pre-conference sessions. A virtual exhibit hall was also included. The average attendee participated in over nine sessions.

The conference's keynote address was by Veethika, a senior project designer at Gitlab sharing her focus on shaping and improving the user experience in open source projects.

Other topics included implementing fine-free service, professional advancement, collection development, curbside services, revamped interfaces, catalog improvements, reports and statistics, and coming enhancements, along with six different interest group discussions.

Three Hackfests, community collaboration days to advance the Evergreen project, were held on the day following the main conference, one for discussion and collaboration among developers, another for collaboration on community documentation, and a new one focusing on best practices and improvements in authority control.

In the development update, it was announced that 1,326 software improvements have been incorporated into core Evergreen, from 35 different contributors, since the 2021 conference. The Evergreen community is made up of individuals, libraries, companies, and non-profit organizations that use and support the Evergreen Integrated Library System.

The Evergreen Annual Report was also released at the conference and is available online at https://tinyurl.com/eg2021rept
