Press Release: Patron Point [June 9, 2022]

Patron Point advances notices communications with automated reading recommendations feature

Dublin, OH - June 9, 2022. Patron Point announced today that it has enhanced its library notices offerings with the addition of a "reading recommendations" feature. With this new development Patron Point has taken a standard operational communication method and transformed it into an engaging marketing tool that will help drive library circulation.

Patron Point libraries currently use its Notices offering to transform their boring text-based notices into beautiful, branded, HTML-based communications automatically raising awareness of upcoming events and programming, fundraising, and other cross-promotion marketing activities.

With this latest enhancement, libraries can offer title suggestions of similar subject areas to those materials included in their "holds ready" and courtesy notices. All recommended titles will be based on the library's holdings and both jacket art and reviews are displayed in a simple, yet elegant format. By clicking on the jacket art, patrons will be taken directly into the catalog to place a hold or browse to other material.

Ted Fons, Vice President Technology at Patron Point commented, "our notices solution offers a modern approach to engaging a library's most active patrons. This enhancement takes notices a step further and can help drive circulation by making highly relevant and timely, personalized reading recommendations at the moment when a patron is most engaged: when checking a hold update or what might be coming due. What's more, the recommendation service is totally automated and requires no day-to-day staff support."

This enhancement is included with the Patron Point Recommends optional service which requires an additional subscription fee. Subscribers to Recommends will receive this feature at no additional cost.
