Press Release: The Library Corporation [April 29, 2022]

Libraries Contribute Bibliographic Records for TLC's ITS.MARC Databases

The Library Corporation (TLC) has expanded ITS.MARC resources with new contributed datasets. TLC established new partnerships to provide libraries with access to recently published titles. The high-quality copy cataloging service from TLC now provides over 81 million records from 23 databases. Of which, school and public library partners contribute 1.2 million records, with more on the way.

By partnering with library contributors, TLC continues to grow its cataloging data services. Catalogers will have access to resources from a variety of media types. Bibliographic records for recently published materials will be easy to find. New school contributors have helped increase access to title records for specialized materials.

Continual updates to ITS.MARC provide ongoing value to TLC customers. "Cataloging is a craft," said Sam Brenizer, Director of Product Management. "It's wonderful to see so many of our customers share their talents, thereby creating an ever-growing community resource. It's a partnership between TLC and the library community resulting in benefits to the entire ITS.MARC family."

Any subscriber can access ITS.MARC databases through their cataloging application or at itsmarc.com. The contributed records are updated weekly in the Contributed School & Public (ConSP) database.

As of March 2022, TLC has approved the following library systems as contributors to ConSP:

  • Bee Cave Public Library (TX)
  • Champaign County Library (OH)
  • Chesterfield Public Schools (VA)
  • La Porte County Public Library (IN)
  • Paul Sawyier Public Library (KY)

More customer datasets are currently under review, and TLC is encouraging new contributors to join. To learn more, please contact us at sales@TLCdelivers.com or visit itsmarc.com.
