The Library Corporation (March 31, 2022) — The Library Corporation (TLC) announces the latest release of their Library.Solution integrated library system: version 5.6.5. The latest customer-driven development improves Authority Control, user experiences, partner integrations, and more.
Catalogers using Library.Solution may already be familiar with its powerful Authority Control. The latest update increases matching on ITS.MARC and local authorities by 10-15%. Local unverified authorities are now also eligible for matching. Additionally, TLC expanded glossaries for terms from multiple source vocabularies. The source is now also displayed in the title editor, for preferred term selection. These improved data consistencies enhance search and discovery and reduce authority management tasks.
Additionally, catalogers can now select many terms for repeatable fields, with duplicate prevention.
Repeatable fields include Awards, Genres, Subject Subdivision, and Contributor Roles. Based on customer requests, TLC added new relator terms for improved search. These include cover artist, inker, letterer, penciler, writer, writer of foreword, and writer of afterword.
This latest release also includes improvements for Reports in Library.Solution. For a better user experience, more reports display book jackets pulled from the title's ISBN. More reports also include a click-through link straight into the cataloging module. This streamlines report-based database management. Other usability improvements throughout this release target navigation, reducing both keystrokes and clicks.
"The solutions we provide to our customers are directly based on feedback and the use cases we hear from them," said Sam Brenizer, Director of Product Management for Library.Solution. "Between focus groups and the suggestions customers submit, we have been able to create value that fits our community's growing needs."
To maintain and strengthen partnerships with third-party vendors, TLC updated data extraction capabilities. Extractable item holdings codes and granular block statuses will improve inter-library resource sharing -- especially for customers using INN-Reach. Development also focused on integrations with OverDrive and Syndetics Unbound.
The latest release of Library.Solution is available now. Customers who choose to upgrade may submit a ticket to begin scheduling the upgrade process. More information is available in the Release Notes on LS.Community.
