Press Release: Ex Libris [December 1, 2021]

Ex Libris Esploro solution now integrated with ORCID to help researchers showcase their work effectively and consistently

Jerusalem, Israel -- December 1, 2021. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the integration of the Ex Libris Esploro research information management solution and ORCID services. ORCID is a leading global, not-for-profit organization that uniquely identifies researchers and links them to their contributions. The integration now enables scholars to seamlessly share their ORCID iD with Esploro in order to strengthen the accuracy of their profiles and facilitate the tracking of their publications.

Through this integration, Esploro and ORCID profiles are updated bidirectionally. Profile information includes, for example, education, affiliation, and a list of publications. Connecting scholars to their work is vitally important for making research outputs easily discoverable and also helps improve the accuracy of researchers' profiles.

ORCID Executive Director Chris Shillum commented, "Increasing the utility of services such as Ex Libris Esploro for users and organizations by adding trustworthy connections and high-quality data is a key priority for ORCID. The more fully populated, sufficiently complete ORCID records and integrated systems there are, the more value the research community can gain from ORCID as a whole, and Esploro is a great example of how this can happen."

Nadav Doron, Ex Libris vice president of research information management solutions, said, "Our collaboration with ORCID helps us advance the interoperability of data and systems in the research ecosystem, thus fulfilling part of our mission. With the integration between Esploro and ORCID services, institutions and researchers can benefit from profiles that are comprehensive, accurate, and up to date."

About ORCID

ORCID's vision is a world where all who participate in research and innovation, from imagining to building and managing, are uniquely identified, and connected to their contributions across disciplines, borders, and time. ORCID seeks to reduce administrative burden for researchers and help organizations understand the impact of the research they are facilitating or funding by providing an identifier for individuals to use with their name as they engage in research and innovation activities, as well as the tools that enable transparent and trustworthy connections between researchers, their contributions, and affiliations.
