CAMBRIDGE, U.K., October 20, 2021 – The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) has included its graduate works in the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global database (PQDT), the leading source of emerging research from universities around the world.
The ProQuest database will include existing and future PhD full text-dissertations from this 240-year-old institution. These works will be accessible by PQDT users globally and will be broadly discoverable via citations in major subject indexes and Google Scholar, giving BME's authors more visibility and recognition for their research output.
"Cooperation with international academic partners is a key priority for our researchers," said Csaba Hos, Vice-Dean for Scientific and International Affairs at the BME. "Showcasing our works in the well-known ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global collection will open up new collaboration options and also support our alumni in their future careers."
"We are delighted to welcome this prestigious Hungarian institution as a new partner," said Angela D'Agostino, Vice President of Product Management at ProQuest. "This agreement will further increase the diversity of our collection, both in terms of geographic reach and content. Working with institutions like BME is part of our global strategy to help maximize the discoverability of authors' work."
Dissertations and theses often provide the most up-to-date, comprehensive and unique research on a subject. Now, researchers at more than 3,100 universities globally will have access to BME's dissertations, along with PQDT's more than 5 million additional works (2.7 million in full text). The library and graduate school at BME can track, monitor and see trends in the usage of their theses by institutions worldwide with the ETD Dashboard.
Cross-searching with other scholarly material on the ProQuest platform simplifies research workflows even further, saving time for users and broadening the scope of their searches. The full spectrum of content in PQDT is also available in the ProQuest One Academic database.
