Jerusalem, Israel—September 16, 2021. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Amsterdam (UvA) is now live with the Ex Libris Library Mobile app, just in time for the new academic year.
The Ex Libris Library Mobile app, powered by Ex Libris campusM, will help librarians provide their customers with the seamless user experience that they have come to expect from the retail, banking, and leisure applications that they use daily. The UvA Library will use the app to increase the visibility of library services such as account information, library hours, and study spaces. With useful information at hand, students can easily connect to the library and carry out library-related tasks on the go.
Using data that students and instructors have opted to make available to the library, the app will enable UvA librarians to customize content and event notifications and deliver information to different user groups. In addition, the app is integrated with the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and Primo discovery tool, bringing valuable library resources to the smartphone.
"The Ex Libris Library Mobile app will open up a state-of-the-art channel for communicating with our students about our online and offline library services," said Gerard Nijsten, director of the library at the University of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. "For example, we expect that students will appreciate being able to quickly look up where study spaces are available or receiving notifications when materials are due or ready for pickup. The integration with our Alma library system will make this app especially beneficial for both our librarians and our students."
"We're delighted that the UvA Library has chosen the Ex Libris Library Mobile app as its first mobile application," said Ex Libris Corp. VP of Student Digital Solutions Ido Peled. "The app will offer the library a simple, cost-effective way of making its collections and services more accessible for mobile users. As an early adopter of the Library Mobile app, the UvA is setting an example of how to craft a student-first digital library."
