North America's largest library consortium selects the Solus Library App

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – July 15, 2021 – Solus is pleased to announce that the Illinois Heartland Library System automation group SHARE (Sharing Heartland's Available Resources Equally) selected the Solus mobile Library App, based on recommendations from the SHARE Executive Council, E-Resources Committee, Finance & Policy Committee, and SHARE members.

SHARE , the largest automation consortium in North America, supports 342 member libraries at 472 locations, comprising of school,, academic, special, and public libraries, with a service population of over 1.4 million. SHARE began evaluating mobile apps in the spring of 2019, and over the next two years did extensive market research, offered members multiple demonstrations, and prepared detailed questions for the industry's leading firms.

According to Cassandra Thompson, SHARE Director, "The Solus team has extensive knowledge in multi-type consortia and a fully-featured and modern-looking app. It was clear through the evaluation period, that Solus understood the scope, scale, and complexities of the SHARE environment and the included Content Management System allows for detailed customizations that we can manage for our deployment. As a consortium that primarily serves small and rural public libraries, every one of our members will enjoy top-of-the-line technology, with a modern-looking app, available in 24 languages, a curb-side pickup solution, and optionally, templates for local-library branding and self-check out with RFID and/or barcode. To remain competitive, it is more important than ever to offer services, like a mobile app, that customers want and expect."

John Richardson, Director of Solus North America states, "IHLS/SHARE have been a pleasure to work with their detailed knowledge and thorough evaluation. Mobile app usage is continuing to grow in usage in even the smallest communities, allowing IHLS/SHARE patrons to be more engaged with library resources, programs, and services. We are now in the implementation phase and testing will begin mid-summer 2021."
