LIBNOVA, worldwide leader in digital preservation, has been selected by the University of Amsterdam (UvA), the Netherland's largest university, and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), one of the largest research universities in Europe, to implement their OAIS-compliant digital depot for their ingestion and preservation workflows.
The UvA and the AUAS treasure a unique and invaluable collection of digitized and digital-born objects, mostly from the Allard Pierson's library, museum and archive collections for which the library is responsible. Up to now, the Library lacks a solution for long-term preservation of this content. After a European tender, which included a live proof of concept, LIBNOVA was awarded the contract for this new repository.
Using LIBSAFE, LIBNOVA's digital preservation platform, the Library of the UvA and AUAS will manage a unified solution for the storage, access and long-term preservation of digitized and digital-born objects, according to the OAIS model and the ISO 16363 standard, as is the best practice for museums, archives and libraries.
The project includes consultancy to define new processing workflows and to use the LIBSAFE API to integrate with ArchivesSpace, ExLibris Alma and other components.
