8/14/2002 -- LA VERGNE, TN. Ingram Library Services, a major provider of books and other materials to libraries, has now added periodicals to its product offerings.
Ingram Library Services will now offer a diverse title base of more than 3,200 periodicals that includes, for example, the literary journal Zzyzyva, the comic book The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as collectors' favorites like The Maine Antique Digest.
Based on Ingram's magazine standing order program, which allows libraries to select and receive new magazine issues on a regular basis, libraries will receive requested publications directly from Ingram in a combined shipment, rather than individually from each periodicals publisher. This one-stop shopping makes it easy to track publication orders and receipts, reduces time spent in the actual receiving process and allows libraries to offer speedy magazine circulation to patrons.
Magazines selected through Ingram can be changed at any time, so libraries no longer need to wait for an annual enrollment window. In the dynamic world of magazine publishing, this feature enables libraries to ensure that they have the most appealing periodicals mix to serve their patrons.
Traditionally hard-to-find yet high-circulating special issues are easily available through the Ingram program on a standing order basis. Topical lists of best-selling magazines are available now at www.ingrambook.com under the "ipage" heading. The entire list of titles as well as a subject breakdown into 67 categories is available at http://www.ingramlibrary.com/progserv/ps7000.asp.
