Nine more libraries now using Tipasa for interlibrary loan management

In recent weeks, nine libraries have implemented Tipasa for their ILL programs and joined a total of 316 libraries now using Tipasa. These include:

  • Columbus Metropolitan Library (OCO), Ohio
  • Massey University Library (UW1), New Zealand
  • Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine (NORDA), Utah
  • Pennsylvania College of Technology (WSB)
  • Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (IMS), Indiana
  • University of Pennsylvania, Biddle Law Library (PLL)
  • University of Redlands (CUR), California
  • United States Merchant Marine Academy (VYM), New York
  • College of Southern Nevada (NVA)

As a cloud-based ILL management system, Tipasa enables libraries to manage a high volume of interlibrary loan requests, automate routine borrowing and lending functions, and provide an enhanced patron experience. It lets libraries meet users' needs without heavy IT support, server management, or extensive configuration and training.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Columbus Metropolitan Library experienced a break in ILL service that left many requests unprocessed. "The OCLC Tipasa team members were so helpful in getting these requests sent to lenders during our implementation. Our customers were happy to get their long-awaited items," said Erica Cherup, Selection & Acquisitions Manager.

Pennsylvania College of Technology implemented OCLC's WorldShare Management Services (WMS) in 2017, but Tracey Amey, Director of the Madigan Library, chose not to also put their staff through an ILL system change at the same time. Now Tracey is pleased to have added Tipasa, saying "Our staff are now able to process ILL requests in the same system as our other library activities… and we're pleased to give our library users an integrated experience for discovery, circulation, and interlibrary loan."

Jessica Caseman, Head of Interlibrary Loan at College of Southern Nevada Library Services, adds that "the new patron portal has been remarked upon by several of our regular patrons as being highly intuitive and easy to use. Change can be difficult, and in a time rife with new software, technologies, and access hurdles, it's wonderful to hear positive feedback from our users."
