The University of Piraeus adopts Yewno Discover, a powerful tool for AI driven research

Palo Alto, CA - February 11, 2021 - Yewno, a leading global provider of artificial intelligence solutions, today announces that the University of Piraeus will be adopting Yewno Discover, an AI-powered academic research platform. The University of Piraeus will be the first university in Greece to offer its students and researchers this web-based solution.

Yewno Discover helps users perform meaningful research in a short amount of time. It is also helpful to librarians tasked with curating digital collections. It works by ingesting and reading full-text content and storing that content in a knowledge graph. Users can navigate a front-end representation of the knowledge graph to explore millions of topics and supporting scholarly materials. In a single session, users can learn what would otherwise require multiple hours of honing topics, locating resources, reading, processing and evaluating information. The system is entirely web-based and can be used whether learning remotely or within the physical library.

The University of Piraeus is home to the second-oldest business school established in Greece. Today there are established faculties on Banking, Economics, International Studies, Maritime Studies, Statistics and Actuaries, Informatics, Digital Systems and Industrial Management.

The University is a member of international organizations such as European University Association, AACSB, International Association of Universities. Chasing excellence, it seeks innovation and, as stated by Mrs. Anthi Katsirikou, PhD, MSc, Head of the University Library, adopting Yewno Discover into their library ecosystem is part of an ongoing mission to provide students with cutting edge digital learning technologies. The main goal is to enlarge discoverability of knowledge giving researchers and students the possibility to explore world-wide scientific information resources by using an innovative and creative approach.

"Yewno partnered with ELiDOC Systems & Services based in Athens in 2020 to better navigate the specific needs and use cases of Greek university libraries," says Yewno COO Ruth Pickering. "The recent adoption of Yewno Discover by the University of Piraeus is a result of this partnership, and we look forward to providing meaningful research experiences for their students.
