Morris Automated Information Network (MAIN), a northern New Jersey shared services consortium of public libraries, is pleased to introduce the SOLUS mobile Library App to its network of 49 libraries across Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset and Warren Counties, effective November 23, 2020.

Patrons can connect to the library with direct access and seamless real‐time interactions from their Apple iOS (iPhone & iPad) or Android devices providing an Anytime, Anywhere & Everywhere experience.

MAIN Executive Director Phillip Berg stated, "We are excited to deliver the SOLUS Library App to the MAIN libraries and respective patrons. Users will benefit from a better library services experience on a mobile device and be empowered to handle basic check‐out functions from the palm of their hand. In the age of COVID‐19, the app is timely as it supports remote access to all of MAIN's resources and will be further upgraded in the coming months to provide additional functionality."

The app can be downloaded from the Apple store and Google Play store by searching for "MAIN Libraries". Once downloaded, the patron will simply login one‐time, and then be taken to their local library environment from then on. The entire MAIN catalog can be searched with a variety of search filters as with the current online Polaris catalog.

Presently, users can use the SOLUS mobile Library App to experience library service in over a dozen languages, search and place holds on physical library materials, renew checked out items, utilize barcode or RFID‐based mobile self‐check (where enabled), be routed to digital content, discover library event calendars, and digitally link multiple library cards. Additional integrations supporting curbside pickup service and eCommerce options are due to arrive by March of 2021.

MAIN libraries serve over 600,000 residents of all ages. Created in 1979 to help oversee the initial automation of local library systems, MAIN has evolved into a full‐fledged public library consortium that offers cost‐sharing opportunities, library automation services, technical support and a consistent organizational structure. MAIN is also a member of the NJ Open Borrowing program, which allows member library patrons to borrow materials from libraries outside of the MAIN consortium.
