Public Libraries Victoria welcomes new libraries to its consortia

November 4, 2020, Lehi, UT—Public Libraries Victoria (PLV) announced the addition of three new libraries to its consortia, including Wyndham City Libraries, Moonee Valley Libraries, and Hobsons Bay Libraries. PLV now has a total of 26 libraries and hopes to see others join later in the year.

PLV is the peak body for public libraries in Victoria, representing library services across the state as they work together to make libraries the best they can be. Libraries Victoria is a division of PLV that manages the Libraries Victoria consortia administration and leads future PLV innovation projects and service opportunities that are inclusive of all Victorian public libraries. The consortia continues to look for innovative ways to meet community needs in order to expand the range of services available in all Victorian libraries.

"The Symphony system as managed by Libraries Victoria and SirsiDynix is a best practice Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud solution, which will ensure higher levels of uptime and a more robust and tailored support environment than the previous system," said Rhonda Rathjen, Manager of Libraries and Community Learning, Wyndham City. "This reflects the Wyndham City's IT Infrastructure preference for a "cloud first" approach and establishes an infrastructure that will support the library needs and aspirations of Wyndham's community into the future."

"All of our new libraries were implementing during the first COVID shutdown which was very challenging, but they all displayed incredible resilience and perseverance to meet their project deadlines," said Jacinta Cloney, Lead Shared Services. "More importantly, it was their enthusiasm when participating in our various meetings that I feel is a good indication of the positive energy and professional insight they will contribute as part of the consortia. I am really looking forward to having them on board."
