Press Release: Coherent Digital [November 3, 2020]

World's largest resource for public policy launches today

Alexandria, VA and Paris, France -- November 1st, 2020. Coherent Digital, LLC, today launched Policy Commons, a new resource to help researchers, educators, students, and policymakers benefit from the work of top policy experts, publishers, nonpartisan think tanks, IGOs, and NGOs.

Policy Commons is a discovery service, an aggregation of premium content, a social network, a hosting service, a curation service, an alert service, a repository to save at-risk content, an impact analytics service, and a suite of tools to enrich content. These services are built around a specially commissioned organization directory with over 16,000 records. Membership is free to end-users, and much of the content is open.

With links to 2.4 million high-quality policy reports, briefs, analyses, working papers, and datasets from more than 1,000 organizations, some of which no longer exist, and more than 500,000 pages of premium content, Policy Commons provides access to top quality, highly current, fact-based materials essential to solving today's most pressing problems—like climate change, social inequity, and pandemic response.

Members are invited to contribute missing materials or links to content. Submissions are available to the community within minutes and enriched with additional indexing within hours.

Policy organizations and research centers are invited to submit links or content in bulk to help build traffic to their websites or to have Policy Commons tools enrich their content with analysis or additional metadata.

"Essential research done by IGOs, NGOs, think tanks, and research centers simply doesn't get the attention it deserves," said Toby Green, co-founder of Coherent Digital and formerly Head of Publishing, OECD. "It's hard to find, it disappears when funding is lost, it lacks persistent identifiers. Policy Commons fixes these issues."

"This is the first time think-tank publications are being treated as a formal body of literature," said Jenna Makowski, Publisher. "By providing tools to systematically search this material, cite it, understand its impact, and preserve it for the long term, we aim to help the policy community advance dialogue that affects every person on the planet."

Registration is free, and many resources are openly available. Find out more at www.policycommons.net
