Los Angeles Public Library selects CapiraCurbside to facilitate reopenings of its locations

CapiraCurbside, a web based, mobile friendly platform curbside library reservation platform, will help facilitate the reopening at 50 locations of the Los Angeles Public Library. LAPL is among the latest libraries to sign on to use the curbside platform. Since its launch on June 1, CapiraCurbside has added over 300 individual library customers, with more than 250,000 reservations created in its first two months of operation.

With CapiraCurbside, patrons can schedule curbside pick-up for library materials without the need for library staff to use online forms, or pen and paper processes. Unlike other library curbside systems, patrons using CapiraCurbside will only be able to reserve a pickup slot when their holds are in a ready status. The staff console backend allows for limiting the number of patrons for each time slot, alerts to when the patron arrives, and much more. Patrons can also easily edit information such as their arrival vehicle information, notes for staff, and other information to ensure a smooth process. Additionally, the platform offers an easy to use application programming interface (API) for customers, allowing libraries to integrate with the system outside of standard web and mobile interfaces.

Founded in 2012 by former library employees, Capira develops customized mobile apps for libraries, providing for an optimal patron experience, including state-of-the-art functionality and services, such as digital library cards, self-checkout, iBeacon integration and more. Clients include Brooklyn Public Library, Minuteman Library Network, Westchester Library System, and over 400 other public and academic libraries worldwide. Staff develops specialized products such as a museum pass reservation platform, and custom projects like "Text To Checkout" services. In 2020, Capira became part of OCLC, the nonprofit library technology and research organization. Visit https://www.capiratech.com or email learnmore@oclc.org for more information.
