Royal Academy of Music chooses Koha open source library management system, hosted and supported by PTFS Europe

London, 7 September 2020. The Royal Academy of Music has chosen Koha as its new library management system to replace the previous SirsiDynix Symphony solution. PTFS Europe is implementing the new system and will provide on-going hosting and support services.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application providing staff and public users with access to the system through web browsers. The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. The Koha online catalogue offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha's depth of functionality continues to develop to meet the changing needs of libraries and their users. For music libraries, Koha is uniquely placed to handle music and audio collections with features such as multi-part handling and support for music incipits in the MARC21 031 field.

Kathy Adamson, Librarian, said "We are very impressed with Koha's functionality and flexibility in dealing with the many and varied formats provided by modern music libraries.

The team at PTFS Europe has been incredibly helpful in making the transition to Koha as smooth as possible."

Jonathan Field, Managing Director of PTFS Europe, stated "We are delighted that the Royal Academy of Music has chosen Koha and we welcome them as new customers. They join a growing number of world famous conservatoires that have turned to open source as their preferred solution. They also join our growing base of Koha customers, particularly in the academic sector, from across the UK and Europe who are hosted and supported by PTFS Europe."
