DUBLIN, Ohio, 30 July 2020. OCLC, the nonprofit global library technology and research organization based in Dublin, has been named among the "2020 Best Employers in Ohio." OCLC has been recognized among the "Best Employers in Ohio" for 12 years since the program began in 2006.
Crain's Content Studio-Cleveland published the 2020 Best Employers in Ohio list, in partnership with the Best Companies Group. The Best Employers in Ohio recognition is based in large part on confidential surveys of each organization's employees.
OCLC is ranked 6th out of 22 recognized among the Best Employers in the Large Employers (250 or more employees) category.
"OCLC staff members, at every level, are driven by our mission to provide the best technologies to libraries so that they can serve their customers with the information they need," said Skip Prichard, OCLC President and CEO. "As an organization, we believe it is our responsibility to provide the best possible work environment to pursue that mission. In doing so, we strive to honor the dignity and value of every individual."
"OCLC also provides exceptional benefits and flexibility to help us manage our lives—at work and outside of work. This has become especially important to our associates in 2020. We appreciate this recognition, and we will continue to make OCLC a great place to work in Ohio—and in our offices around the world," said Tammi Spayde, OCLC Vice President, Purpose, People, and Place.
Headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, OCLC is a nonprofit, global library technology and research organization that provides shared technology services, original research, and community programs to libraries of all types and sizes. Together, thousands of OCLC member libraries in more than 100 countries support access to the world's collected knowledge. OCLC and its member libraries cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the world's most comprehensive online resource for finding library materials.
The Best Companies Group conducts a thorough company assessment to determine Best Employers. The assessment is a two-part process designed to gather detailed data about each participating company. In part one, the employer completes a questionnaire and in part two, employees of the company complete a confidential employee engagement and satisfaction survey. The collected information is combined to produce a detailed set of data that enables analysts to determine the strengths and opportunities of the participating companies. The workplaces are ranked based on this data.
Last month, OCLC was named among Insider Pro and Computerworld's 2020 Best Places to Work in IT for the 11th time. That honor is part of the IT publication's annual Best Places to Work in IT survey.
