The University of Southampton adopts Talis Aspire to improve the online student experience of digital resources

The University of Southampton has adopted Talis Aspire as they focus on the use of digital resources. They aim to improve students' experience of accessing online resources with reading lists in Talis Aspire. The library will also benefit from streamlined workflows to enhance the resourcing and acquisitions processes.

They will be making use of online reading list management along with integration with their Digitized Content provider. They will also be using Talis Aspire's Management Information (MI) Dashboards, in order to gain better insight into list coverage and usage analytics.

Talis Aspire will be integrated with their SirsiDynix Library Management System, and with their Virtual Learning Environment, Blackboard.

The University of Southampton will be giving students access to online reading lists in time for the new academic year in September 2020.

Anna O'Neill, Director of Library Services and Arts Strategy at the University of Southampton said: "We had the teaching and learning experience in mind when we selected Talis Aspire. Ensuring that our software providers meet the digital needs of our students, staff and academics has always been important, but never more so than now.

The intuitive, mobile-friendly interface will provide students with seamless one-click access to books, journal articles, videos and other digital resources from the familiar setting of the Virtual Learning Environment.

The system simplifies reading list creation for academics allowing lists to be dynamic, giving students 24/7 online access to the material they need. As an additional benefit, Talis Aspire will streamline Library workflows for digitisation, purchasing new resources and reporting on usage."

David Errington, CEO at Talis said "We're pleased to announce that the University of Southampton has joined the Talis Aspire community. It's great to see our community growing within the UK and across the world, and we hope the University of Southampton will benefit from a wealth of experience and best practice shared by our users.

We look forward to supporting their goals for providing a more digital experience for students. In the current climate, we understand the importance of this, and will work with them to ensure better access to a wide range of online resources."

The University of Southampton is ranked within the top 100 universities globally, and the top 20 in the UK. One of the largest in the UK, the University of Southampton has over 22,000 students. There are seven educational campuses, including an international campus in Malaysia.
