Dublin, OH - June 3, 2020 - Patron Point today announced it has seen significant interest in its new online library card registration solution which is now included with every Patron Point subscription.
Ian Downie, Vice President, Growth at Patron Point stated "In the two months since we have launched the feature, many of our library partners are now issuing online library cards to their new customers - something they weren't doing literally weeks ago. We have also seen significant interest in the solution for libraries issuing eCards to patrons during the COVID-19 - giving patrons access to digital resources while their buildings have been closed."
The online card registration solution is complemented by Patron Point Verify, address verification solution. Downie added, "Libraries have signed up for our address verification solution to help them transform their new card registration and card renewal processes, verifying patron addresses online removing the need for patrons to come into the library with proof of address. This is a real time saver and a much simpler way of dealing with new and expiring memberships."
Sufa Anderson, Access Services Manager at Las Vegas–Clark County Library District said, "The Patron Point team did an excellent job of getting this up and running for us. It was much needed, quick, and their patience while things were tweaked is much appreciated." Anderson continued, "Our customers can now obtain a library card to gain access to eResources despite our buildings being closed. The customer is able to obtain both their library card and PIN to access eResources, and the patron record is created for us in the ILS all ‘magically' behind the scenes."
Angela Hunek, ILS System Administrator at Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources added, "Previous to Patron Point's eCard solution, there was no way to prevent the public outside of our service area from creating a digital library card. This was labor intensive for staff to cull and communicate with those who had applied. Definitely, a wonderful thing to have Patron Point's whitelist in play! We now have an up-to-date look and feel to both the application form and messages sent to our patrons. Bringing us into the present was a nice choice to make with Patron Point.
