IPSWICH, Mass. — May 6, 2020 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and Mygrator have partnered to support libraries adopting the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP). EBSCO and Mygrator will work together to provide reliable hosting and support services locally.
Founded in 2020, Mygrator was formed to meet the FOLIO demand in the Benelux region, specifically Flanders, Netherlands and Luxembourg. Mygrator founders Erwin la Roi and Bart van der Meij have a deep knowledge of project management, implementation and adoption of information systems in the Benelux region. Bart is an experienced management consultant that works with companies to understand their needs. He uses this experience to work with new information communications technology (ICT) environments. Erwin is a process manager and spent many years in the information industry recruiting. He is also experienced in organizing environments and improving process efficiency. By supporting FOLIO libraries, Mygrator will help increase the adoption of FOLIO and provide additional services to customers.
Mygrator Founder, Bart van der Meij says that it's the company's vision to support customers that are looking to create their own solutions through open source. "This partnership with EBSCO will allow us to help customers looking to bring new order to their data and information environment by adding knowledge, experience and resources. FOLIO brings this new freedom to the library industry and we are happy to provide interested organizations with options for migrating traditional library systems to FOLIO."
EBSCO supports FOLIO with funding, developers and project management. In addition to working with established open source service providers, EBSCO also provides hosting services and advanced software support, as well as a variety of data integration services for libraries adopting the FOLIO LSP.
EBSCO Information Services Director of FOLIO Partnerships, Mark Allcock, says the recent agreements between EBSCO and open source providers adds value to the customer service offered by EBSCO during FOLIO implementations around the world. "EBSCO as part of the FOLIO Community welcomes this innovative approach from Mygrator to bring years of library project experience to bear on the FOLIO project by creating a whole new company. By working with well-regarded local vendors and innovators, we seek to give libraries local support while also leveraging EBSCO's global reach. As we continue to create partnerships with providers like Mygrator, we increase our ability to support libraries around the world and enable libraries to benefit from modern open source resources and support."
FOLIO encompasses a community of librarians and developers who have joined special interest groups actively creating an open source LSP that supports traditional ILS functionality with the ability to add additional value and services. The applications are modular and allow multiple vendors or libraries to contribute applications. More information is available at www.folio.org.
