National Library of Medicine migrates to Ex Libris Alma platform and Primo solution

Chicago, Illinois—May 5, 2020. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the National Library of Medicine (NLM) has selected the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution to replace the institution's Ex Libris Voyager integrated library system (ILS) and the WebVoyage online public access catalog.

NLM is a leader in research in biomedical informatics and data science and the world's largest biomedical library. Since 1998, NLM has been using the Voyager ILS for library management operations and WebVoyage Classic for public access to the NLM collection. In March 2020, NLM began the migration to the Alma platform and Primo solution.

The cloud-based Alma library services platform is compliant with the government-wide Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) in order to meet the stringent security requirements of government institutions.

"Ex Libris welcomes the National Library of Medicine to the Alma and Primo user communities," commented Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America. "The platform will extend critical health information to the millions of people around the world who depend on secure access to it every day."
