Press Release: Catalyst IT [February 11, 2020]

Koha expands in Australasia

Catalyst has purchased Calyx Information Essentials and, from 1 March 2020, Catalyst will be providing Hosting and Support for their Australian clients using the Koha Library Management System.

Calyx and Catalyst have enjoyed a long and friendly working relationship as participants in the Koha open source project community, and anticipate that the transition will be an easy one for both customers, and the company.

Kathryn Tyree, Koha Services Manager said, "Here we have two companies that each have supported the same open source product, Koha, for over a decade. The directors of Calyx have decided to retire, and Catalyst are delighted to be able to continue to support Calyx customers.

"This is quite unusual in the library software world where more often one company acquires another, and starts on a pathway of putting the other software out of support. In this case with open source software and Koha, the companies and customers continue to grow their own capability, and the capability of Koha".

Calyx and Catalyst have been in touch with the customers who are effected, and will keep information relating to the transition up to date at this information page for customers.

Enquiries about Koha Support by Catalyst in Australia are welcome at koha-support@catalyst-au.net.
