Evergreen Release 3.4 is now available, and the software update adds features for users as well as library staff.
The most dramatic addition for users is the implementation of book carousels, displaying book cover images on the public catalog home page that can be animated or static, and can be updated manually or automatically maintained.
Evergreen continues to implement the new Angular interface, with a redesign of the booking module and improvements in the new experimental prototype catalog.
"Release 3.4 is a major release with a number of improvements in cataloging and circulation," notes Release Manager Galen Charlton, Infrastructure and Added Services Manager for Equinox Open Library Initiative. Behind the scenes, "A variety of staff client interfaces have been rewritten in Angular, including Organizational Units and Org Unit Types administration pages and the Permission Group administration page" and "improvements have been made to Angular grids in the staff interface" relates Charlton.
The underlying improvements follow on the milestone Release 3.2 from last fall which completed Evergreen's very visible move to a modern web-based staff client, phasing out the old client. Enhancements to the staff client continue in this release as well.
Thirty-two members of the Evergreen community contributed their expertise for the improvements in this release.
