Experts Lead Voyager Sopris Learning's 2019 Online Literacy Symposium

DALLAS—May 14, 2019—Registration is underway for Voyager Sopris Learning's 2019 Literacy Symposium, a two-day online professional development event, July 8-9, featuring leading experts sharing the most current research in literacy instruction.

The Literacy Symposium will provide PreK to college educators with an opportunity to explore the relationships among language, reading, and writing, plus connect theory to classroom practice. Sessions are designed for teachers, instructional coaches, administrators, curriculum directors, and professional developers.

Registration is $139 per person. The fee includes a Certificate of Attendance and a one-year license providing unlimited online, on-demand access to a growing archive of more than 30 hours of previous sessions, including presentations by respected researchers such as Mark Seidenberg, Jack Fletcher, Hugh Catts, David Share, Louise Spear-Swerling, and many others.

Attendees may join the 2019 sessions in real time and interact with the presenters and participants, or they may access the recordings any time during the license activation period.

This year's presenters include:

  • Jane Ashby, Ph.D., senior director of education, Stern Center for Language and Learning, Williston, Vt.;
  • Susan Brady, Ph.D., professor of school psychology, University of Rhode Island;
  • Charles Haynes, Ed.D., professor communication sciences and disorders, Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions;

  • Melissa Farrall, Ph.D., program director for evaluation, Stern Center for Language and Learning, Williston, Vt.; and
  • Debbie Hartwig, M.A., school improvement consultant/literacy coach, Ohio Department of Education, Canton, Ohio.
