Georgetown College adopts Yewno Discover: a next generation research tool

February 25th, 2018 -- Redwood City, CA. Yewno, Inc., a leading international provider of artificial intelligence solutions, today announces that Georgetown College has adopted its next generation research tool, Yewno Discover.

Yewno Discover is a highly visual research platform that allows users to identify concepts and make semantic connections between concepts across interdisciplinary fields. Underlying each concept is a vast repository of high-quality content including millions of books and scholarly articles. The full text of this content can be accessed through the Discover platform, allowing researchers to identify, hone and complete their research projects using a single tool.

Georgetown College is a liberal arts institution located in Georgetown, KY with an on-campus enrollment population of approximately 950 undergraduates. Georgetown offers a robust online Master's degree in Education. Yewno Discover will be featured on Georgetown's website, research guides (LibGuides), and will also be featured during in-class information literacy sessions. Additionally, the college is planning a "Pop into the Library" event in April to introduce Yewno Discover to their students.

Andrew Adler, Director of Library Services at Georgetown, first encountered Yewno Discover at a summit for academic libraries. He realized that the visual nature of the tool would help students to see the "big picture" of how one topic connects to others. "Yewno Discover streamlines the research process, making it much more efficient and accessible for my students," Adler says, "It is extremely useful in topic identification, and helps our library to see exactly where and how we can support our students' research goals."

"At Yewno, we want to make AI technology accessible in a way that enhances the research process, removing some of the frustrations around the current fragmentation and proliferation of content and exposing inferences in a way that has never been possible before. We are providing a service, not just a product," says Yewno Co-Founder Ruth Pickering. "We view ourselves as partners to libraries, librarians and their students in the facilitation and support of quality research and in-depth learning using state of the art AI technology."
