Sydney, January 3, 2018: Civica has announced the latest release of its cloud-based Spydus library management system, which firmly focuses on improving customer experience and streamlining library administration.
Led by customer feedback on the common challenge of growing administration in libraries, this latest upgrade to the leading cloud-based integrated library management system makes essential information available at a glance through a personalised staff dashboard. Spydus Home streamlines the administration burden by making tasks simpler to complete. Spydus Home also acts as a communication tool, delivering updates and announcements in a timely and efficient manner and reducing the need to send multiple emails. It also streamlines workflows for ongoing library tasks such as approvals.
With modern libraries extending beyond physical spaces, the requirement for libraries to have the best tools to reach out to the wider community has become a necessity. For online library customers, Spydus10.2 will also enable resources to be discoverable in search engines such as Google. This feature will enable libraries to be extend their presence from beyond the traditional library website to attract a greater number of potential library members.
Other improvements include:
- Streamlining the confirmation of customer details including simple email confirmation to ensure library data is accurate.
- Further integration of all library resources including online databases, websites and library events to ensure they are discoverable within a combined library search. This allows greater exposure of all library resources to customers when using the library catalogue
- Allowing the bulk editing of MARC records within the Spydus database to streamline the process and minimise staff time when improving bibliographic records.
- A wider range of Spydus enhancements as voted on by the worldwide Spydus community to deliver additional digital engagement with customers and automate library processes.
Simon Jones, Managing Director for Libraries and Education Solution at Civica International, says: "Providing exceptional customer service is at the heart of everything we do. This release addresses administration concerns of library staff by automating and simplifying routine tasks and allowing them to spend more time with customers. It's a great way to start the year and I look forward to our first customer going live shortly."
