Inner City Councils in Sydney put citizens first with cloud management

Sydney, December 4, 2018: Four of Sydney's inner city councils have selected Civica's market-leading library management system to improve community collaboration. Spydus, a cloud-hosted solution, will support core library functions, enhance citizen engagement and open possibilities for a combined library service in the future.

Spydus delivers easy-to-use management systems that support library circulation, administration, customer search, electronic resource discovery and digital assets management. The Councils of Canada Bay, Burwood, Strathfield and Inner West have all signed on to use the cloud-hosted solution.

In addition to these benefits, business intelligence modules SpydusManager and SpydusCollections will enable the libraries to gain richer data insights. These will support the councils as they seek to manage collections more efficiently, automate tasks, and communicate more effectively with their respective communities.

Civica's library technology roadmap provides assurance that Spydus will meet future needs and can scale to support a combined library service in the future, based on its shared catalogue option, ‘Cloud OPAC'.

Marilyn Taylor, Inner West Council, Library Operations Manager, says, "Spydus addresses the requirements of a library service in the digital information era, providing ease of use, flexibility and the ability to adapt to future demands."

Simon Jones, Managing Director for Library and Education Solutions at Civica International, says, "With technology and user needs changing rapidly, Civica continuously evolves Spydus to improve service delivery outcomes for our library customers. We have an exciting development roadmap that ensures improvements to our existing functionality, as well as new modules that will enable libraries to do much more to support their communities.

"We are delighted to be able to collaborate with all four Councils to help them achieve greater satisfaction for library customers and support efficient operations for staff, now and into the future."
