DUBLIN, Ohio, 10 October 2018. OCLC is partnering with Taylor & Francis, one of the world's leading academic publishers, to create and deliver high-quality catalog records representing important scholarly works to libraries.
As an OCLC cataloging partner, Taylor & Francis will provide published works for OCLC's team of professional catalogers to create high-quality records to be added to WorldCat and delivered to libraries.
OCLC will create 7,000 full-level MARC records annually and deliver records through WorldShare Collection Manager to Taylor & Francis global library customers. In addition, OCLC will automatically maintain WorldCat holdings for Taylor & Francis customers with an OCLC Cataloging and Metadata Subscription.
"OCLC is very happy to extend our partnership with Taylor & Francis, one of the world's most respected publishers of academic and scholarly works," said Chip Nilges, OCLC Vice President, Business Development. "This partnership will allow us to provide high-quality catalog records produced by OCLC staff for important Taylor & Francis works that libraries and library users value for research and study. By working closely with the world's leading publishers, OCLC can get the best records possible representing the most important books and journals into the catalogs and onto the shelves of libraries, and into the hands of library users worldwide."
Taylor & Francis has partnered with OCLC for years by providing metadata to help libraries represent their collections more completely and efficiently for discovery of materials. The new agreement expands the partnership to include the creation and delivery of MARC records.
"We are delighted to announce the extension of our partnership with OCLC," said Angelie Torne, Taylor & Francis, Director of Sales: UK, EMEA & Rest of the World. "Creating added-value to our mutual customers and end users is the very foundation and driving force in strengthening our collaboration. This partnership is a momentous step in our ambition to make knowledge and information discoverable and accessible seamlessly to millions of learners worldwide while increasing the operational efficiency and administrative processes of our library customers."
