Publishers Group West to distribute Heyday starting January 2019

Berkeley, CA Heyday, publisher of such best-selling titles as The California Field Atlas by Obi Kaufmann and The Laws Guide to Nature Drawing and Journaling by John Muir Laws, announces that beginning in January 2019 its books will be sold and distributed to the trade by Publishers Group West, an Ingram Publisher Services LLC brand, beginning with its Fall/Winter 2018 season.

Heyday has signed a multi-year global distribution deal for print and e-books with Publishers Group West. Heyday was previously represented regionally by Book Travelers West.

"We have long admired PGW's market reach, deep enthusiasm for books, and stalwart commitment to authors, publishers, and readers," said Heyday's Publisher and Executive Director, Steve Wasserman. "In California, the local went global years ago and, with PGW as partner, we believe we can expand the circle of Heyday's readers. We are excited to write the next chapter of Heyday with PGW."

"Heyday presents a wonderful opportunity for PGW. While they've had a regional focus historically, their editorial direction is expanding to include titles with greater national reach, and PGW is very well positioned to facilitate their plans for growth" said Kevin Votel, VP Business Development for PGW.

Heyday is recognized as a fiercely independent publisher that focuses on history, social justice, nature, and the indigenous peoples of California. Among its notable books are the award-winning Fred Korematsu Speaks Up by Laura Atkins and Stan Yogi, Ransoming Pagan Babies: The Selected Writings of Warren Hinckle, and California Fights Back: The Golden State in the Age of Trump by Peter Schrag.
