Serpentine Jarrahdale, Northern Beaches, Gosnells, and Kwinana councils partner with Civica to transform library service delivery

Australia, April 26, 2018: Civica, one of Australia's leading suppliers of critical software applications, digital solutions, and managed services that help transform the way organisations work, today announced four new partnerships with Australian libraries. Civica currently supports over 2,000 library installations worldwide.

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, City of Gosnells, and the City of Kwinana from Western Australia, as well as the Northern Beaches Council from New South Wales have chosen Spydus to optimise workflows and back-end operations while improving library service delivery and customer experience.

According to Melanie Gurney, Executive Manager of Northern Beaches Council Libraries, Spydus emerged as the clear choice after carefully considering a range of library management systems.

"Spydus offers a seamless and responsive web-based interface that has the customer's experience at the heart of its design. As it is mobile-ready and fully customisable, it allows us to take our service beyond the library walls and to exceed our community's expectations. Spydus is an established Australian product with experienced local support always on hand to ensure our successful transition from three systems into one."

"We are very excited to introduce Spydus to our customers as it will be immensely beneficial to our recently amalgamated council service. We are confident that with Spydus at the centre of our operations, the Northern Beaches community will appreciate a far more engaging, personalised, and seamless library experience," said Melanie.

The councils are currently at various stages of implementation with Spydus' standard modules. This include: Electronic Resource Management (ERM), digital assets management and a discovery OPAC on top of the standard LMS offering.

The ERM module manages library's electronic resources and databases in one repository, simplifying lifecycle management of the library's electronic and digital services. This, coupled with Spydus' management of the library's own digital assets and those of third parties via e-content APIs, allow for seamless integration and access to all library resources and helps transform libraries into digital spaces that today's library users have come to expect.

According to Simon Jones, Managing Director for Civica Library and Education Solutions, "Civica is delighted to welcome the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, City of Gosnells, the City of Kwinana and my home council, the Northern Beaches Council, to our Spydus network. We are pleased to see teams from these libraries participating in our recently concluded National Libraries Technology Roadshow, revealing that they were keen to be active and valuable contributing members of the SPUN (Spydus Users Network) network."

"As a true web-based and cloud-hosted system, Spydus streamlines library and IT administration and I look forward to seeing how these councils continue to transform their library operations by offering a digital platform that matches the great physical services," said Jones.
