Bath, December 2017 – Doncaster College is the latest further education institution to adopt OpenAthens as their identity and access management solution – providing secure and consistent access to a wide range of essential academic resources and applications for the College's students and staff.
OpenAthens replaces Shibboleth-based authentication at Doncaster College, and is completely integrated with the College's local directory and other applications such as Office 365. Users now access online resources and productivity applications through their College network username and password. No further login details or administration required.
"The seamless access for Doncaster College staff and students to their e-resources is a credit to OpenAthens and the service they provide," said Leigh Kirsopp, eServices Support Assistant at Doncaster College. "The integration of authentication with our local directory means less hassle for our users and an interface they are familiar and comfortable with. As well as this, the support of the OpenAthens staff has been tremendous, professional and helpful throughout every stage of our project."
Jon Bentley, Commercial Director of OpenAthens adds, "we're delighted to provide Doncaster College with a true single sign-on environment for their students. With so many essential resources being provided electronically, seamless access has never been more important. The end user wants to get to the best information they can, as simply as they can. Removing authentication as a blocker is an essential part of that process."
