OverDrive adds hundreds of high interest K-12 eBooks for school and library

CLEVELAND—OCTOBER 18, 2017—OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for libraries and schools, welcomes four new publishers in time for the 2017-18 school year. Rosen Publishing, Gareth Stevens, Cavendish Square and Enslow Publishing serve grades Pre-K -12 with high interest, curriculum-correlated materials. They are making hundreds of titles available digitally to libraries and schools for the first time, with more planned for 2018.

  • Rosen Publishing and imprints PowerKids Press, Rosen Central, Windmill Books, and Rosen en español serve the needs of students Pre-K -12 with materials committed to social justice with the belief that there is no taboo topic. Rosen's commitment to social justice, technological innovation, and publishing ethos go back to the 1950s.
  • Hi-Lo titles, informational texts and fiction titles from Gareth Stevens ensure that early-emergent to fluent readers build the reading foundation they need for success in the classroom and beyond. Graphically engaging series like Fun Fact Files and 100 Fact You Should Know serve middle grades. A strong emphasis on social studies, civics, and American history provides timely up-to-date content correlated to the curriculum.
  • Cavendish Square publishes circulating reference and nonfiction titles supporting science, social studies, and health curricula carefully researched and delivered to meet state and national curriculum standards. Nonfiction series and early readers range in grade level from kindergarten to college, and include Cultures of the World, It's My State, and Backyard Safari.
  • Enslow Publishing will add new titles in biography, contemporary issues, health & drug education, history & government, science projects & experiments, sports & recreation and current events. African American studies is featured in biographies and culture titles.

"We are thrilled to add such a large collection of essential and timely non-fiction titles to our curricular and library catalog," said OverDrive's Director of Collection Development Karen Estrovich. "Students are growing more sophisticated, and topics that used to be untouched until college are now part of their classwork and culture. Tough topics like Coping with Cyberbullying will engage older students. Middle grade students will dive into interactive technology eBooks like Understanding Coding with Minecraft. Emergent readers will get fun and subtle lessons in inclusion with titles like Oddball Opposites."
