University of Texas Rio Grande Valley selects Yewno Discover research application

Redwood City, CA 08/15/2017 -- Yewno, Inc, announced today that The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Library has selected the Yewno Discover research application to support the interdisciplinary and explorative search needs of its campuses.

Paul Sharpe, UTRGV University Librarian, provided some background on UTRGV stating, "The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is a new university formed in 2015 by the combination of two previous universities, that then opened a new medical school in 2016. The University has aggressive goals of quickly becoming a top research university. We are combining the two academic libraries, and a medical library we inherited, into one library system, and we want to leverage our interdisciplinary resources to contribute to reaching this University goal." Sharpe further discussed the selection of Yewno Discover, "The Yewno Discover application is a perfect newly-developed tool to capitalize on these interdisciplinary resources, and it will move our students and researchers ahead. Yewno Discover creates different ways to approach the research problem, and presents these visually to the users in a simple and elegant fashion. Its inherently interdisciplinary construct is ideal for our goals, and given our aggressive charter, once we saw it, we seized the opportunity it presented to us."

"It is exciting to see the continued impact the Yewno Discover research application is having on meeting the unfulfilled knowledge discovery needs in education and research. Through its AI-based technology, and visual presentation of deeper concepts and richer understanding of context, it is the only application on the market that gives students and researchers perspective on the relationships between diverse topics," said Yewno CEO and founder, Ruggero Gramatica, "The selection of Yewno Discover by leading-edge technology adopters like The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ensures that libraries play the central role in meeting these user needs."

About The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) (www.utrgv.edu) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas. This transformative initiative provided the opportunity to expand educational opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley, including a new School of Medicine, and made it possible for residents of the region to benefit from the Permanent University Fund a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and other institutions.

UTRGV has campuses and off-campus research and teaching sites throughout the Rio Grande Valley including in Boca Chica Beach, Brownsville (formerly The University of Texas at Brownsville campus), Edinburg (formerly The University of Texas-Pan American campus), Harlingen, McAllen, Port Isabel, Rio Grande City, and South Padre Island. UTRGV, a comprehensive academic institution, enrolled its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine welcomed its first class in the summer of 2016.
