Emeryville, CA. Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, is proud to announce the Poplar Creek Public Library District in Illinois has selected Polaris as their integrated library system.
Poplar Creek was interested in finding a standalone ILS that could provide more local control while still benefitting from one proven solution shared by other Illinois public libraries similar in size. With powerful, yet easy-to-use, staff tools and the Innovative Open Library Stack architecture, Polaris proved to be the best solution to flexibly and responsively support their library services.
"I really enjoy how open Polaris is in terms of circulation rules, loan periods, fines, and how they connect to Material Types in the item record," said Cassidy Fontana, Technical Services Coordinator. "Rather than having all this only accessible through coding on the backend, it is viewable and changeable straight from the item record, in plain English."
Innovative's commitment and investment in next-generation library solutions was another important draw according to Poplar Creek Executive Director Debra Stombres and her staff. With continued focus on improving workflow efficiencies and patron outreach, Stombres said she looks forward to exploring new ways Polaris can help Poplar Creek deliver enhanced services and long-term success.
"We already have plans to re-engineer our acquisitions and ordering procedures with Polaris," Stombres shared. "And with more remote event visits planned, we are looking forward to using the Polaris Web Application for mobile access to our ILS throughout our community. Polaris offered both the ease of use to simplify our processes, and the scalability we needed to keep up with our growing demands. We find that very appealing."
Poplar Creek joins many Innovative library partners in Illinois, including: Chicago Public Library, nine Innovative libraries in the LINKin Library Consortium, and over 480 Innovative members in the Illinois Heartland System. The staff will also utilize Resource Sharing, Innovative's user-initiated consortial borrowing system, which will enable Poplar Creek to participate in new integrated resource sharing partnerships in the future.
"Library partners like Poplar Creek are the very reason we continue to make technology research and development a top priority," said Innovative CEO, Jim Tallman. "Their success motivates us to keep evolving modern platforms, address future expectations, and give libraries the right tools to collaborate and create new opportunities for growth."
Poplar Creek will move from SirsiDynix Symphony to Polaris in October. Visit the Innovative website to learn more about the value of Polaris for public libraries.
