April 4, 2017 -- Emeryville, CA. Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, is pleased to announce that the McMaster University Library System in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada has selected the Sierra integrated library system and Encore Duet discovery solution.
Supporting more than 28,000 full-time students, faculty, and staff, the University and Health Sciences Libraries provide services from four physical locations: Mills Memorial Library (Humanities & Social Sciences), Innis (Business), H.G. Thode Library of Science and Engineering, and the Health Sciences Library, with collections available to all McMaster users. By selecting Sierra and Encore Duet, the libraries can now take a completely integrated approach to daily operations, powering staff workflows, and delivering faster and more streamlined access to full-text journal content and an impressive e-resources collection for the McMaster community.
With approximately 1 million items, the library's electronic items represent a growing proportion of McMaster's overall holdings. Providing users with easy access to these collections and the ability to better integrate their management with other library resources were important considerations.
"Encore Duet will help us make our large and growing suite of e-resources more visible and accessible to the McMaster community, alongside our extensive physical collections." said Wade Wyckoff, Associate University Librarian, Collections. "This was an important consideration in our decision on a new services platform."
Wyckoff also explained how Sierra will allow a comparatively small technical services staff to enact time-saving changes and enhanced workflow efficiencies. "Sierra provides an environment with the potential to move resources more efficiently through the process from acquisition to discovery and access."
McMaster joins four other academic libraries in Canada that have selected Innovative solutions to serve their students and faculty. These libraries include Ryerson University, Ottawa University, Concordia University, and Brock University.
"We are delighted to see McMaster University join the ranks of Innovative library partners in Canada using our solutions to extend their capabilities and enhance the user experience for their students, researchers, and faculty," said Innovative CEO Jim Tallman. "Innovative is fully committed to supporting new possibilities in higher education with integrated solutions that continue to grow and drive library success worldwide."
