Innovative Users Group Commences 25th Annual Conference

April 3, 2017 -- Emeryville, CA. Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of integrated library systems (ILS) that empowers libraries globally, today announces the kickoff of IUG 2017, the 25th Innovative Users Group (IUG) conference held in National Harbor, Maryland, marking a significant quarter-century milestone for experience in library partnership.

The conference brings together libraries from all over the world. Through April 5, nearly 815 library professionals from 16 countries will participate in over 160 sessions presented by their colleagues and Innovative staff.

The conference begins with opening remarks by Kathy Setter, IUG Chair and Project Manager for the MORE Automation Consortium. Lee Rainie, the Director of Internet, Science and Technology Research at the Pew Research Center will also present at the opening session. Lee will deliver the keynote presentation, addressing the topic, "The secret mission that people yearn to have libraries address."

Collaboration and innovation are front and center at IUG2017, providing attendees with countless opportunities to interact with other library professionals and Innovative staff throughout the three-day event. Discussions will include best practices for streamlining workflows, easier electronic resource management, using mobile apps, building library success, integrating API integrations, and a review of product roadmaps across the entire Innovative portfolio.

"IUG members are always excited to come to the conference to learn what's new, what's coming, how to do something better, and meet friends they only see once a year," said Setter. "After the conference they are ready to go back to their libraries re-energized, able to share what they learned, and ready to put some new ideas into practice. IUG is all about helping each other do the best possible work with the resources available."

A fundamental part of IUG is the Crystal Awards ceremony, which celebrates those who have attended 15 IUG annual conferences. The 2017 honorees are: Gail Herrera, University of Mississippi; Julie Retelle, Bates College; Suzanne McGinn, Saint Paul Public Library; Jen Fritz, George Washington University; Frank Dubisz, Azusa Pacific University; Larry Fischer, Greene County Public Library; Bonnie Buzzell, Brown University; David Ruml, Carrollton Public Library; Eileen Richards, Colby College Libraries; Michael O'Brien, University of San Diego; Dorothy Hargett, Regent University; Sheryl VanderWagen, Lakeland Library Cooperative; Ronda Wittenberg, Humboldt County Library.
