Emeryville, CA. Innovative Interfaces, a leading provider of library automation software that empowers libraries globally, is proud to announce the launch of the Innovative Knowledge Base Release 1.0 for an accurate view of entitlements and comprehensive management of library content lifecycles.
As a web-based application with an intuitive, modern user interface and highly-optimized indexing, the Innovative Knowledge Base promises library partners will benefit from more efficient workflows and simplified management of their content lifecycles going forward. Knowledge Base Release 1.0 enhances the user experience for collection management, providing real-time discovery and access to electronic subscriptions. By integrating holdings and managed content across entire library systems, library staff can quickly identify coverage for all resources.
"With the Innovative Knowledge Base, our library partners will be able to fully leverage the investments they've made in content and technology, and our first release lays the foundation for the future of resource management," said Leif Pedersen, Executive Vice President, Product at Innovative. "We believe libraries must have ongoing access to real-time data in order to make smart collection decisions and ensure end-users can easily access the content they need. We are very enthusiastic about Knowledge Base Release 1.0 and will continue to develop our solutions to enable integration and effectively serve our library partners worldwide."
Unique to the Innovative Knowledge Base is the ability to identify all content—regardless of the vendor—in one centralized location, via predictive search capabilities. Now, staff will be able to search an extensive database of packages by typing short phrases, as well as view titles the library has subscribed to alongside those they have not. Knowledge Base Release 1.0 provides libraries with a coverage source to power:
- Electronic Resource Management (ERM) for more efficient management of entitlements
- OpenURL Link Resolvers for immediate access to full-text
- Discovery to ensure users can quickly and easily locate the resources they need
Due to the frequency with which publishers add or drop titles from a package, Knowledge Base Release 1.0 focuses on more accurate coverage updates for libraries. Innovative has significantly reduced the time in which library staff become aware of title changes, shortening the industry standard timeframe from one month to two weeks in this first release.
Like all new product offerings from Innovative, this solution is built on a secure, scalable, and extensible cloud platform that libraries require. It also demonstrates Innovative's ongoing commitment to open solutions by integrating information from multiple sources—even competing providers.
Jim Tallman, Chief Executive Officer at Innovative, notes, "what is most exciting about the Innovative Knowledge Base is how we are leveraging new technology and open APIs to deliver a premium experience for libraries, and in turn, their users. Paired with a responsive web-based interface for staff, and metadata that is more accurate, complete, and of higher quality than any other source on the market, our knowledge base supports better collections and more reliable access for library staff and end users."
Knowledge Base Release 1.0 is now in general availability for Innovative library partners who have implemented the Sierra solution. To learn how the Innovative Knowledge Base can improve library workflows, resource management, and infrastructure, view a short video on the Innovative website.
