University of Reading upgrades to SirsiDynix Symphony and SaaS

April 18, 2016, Watford, UK — SirsiDynix is pleased to announce the University of Reading has recently purchased SirsiDynix's fully-hosted BLUEcloud Campus library management system to support its 24/7 library service delivery. The University of Reading is a globally-ranked, research-intensive university. Over the summer of 2016, SirsiDynix will migrate the Symphony system to its enterprise-class ISO 27001 certified UK data centre, completing the transition to a supplier-hosted solution.

A SirsiDynix customer for nearly 20 years, the University of Reading has successfully been using the SirsiDynix Enterprise cloud-based resource discovery system for the past several years. Included in BLUEcloud Campus, Enterprise has simplified Reading student discovery, pulling from and delivering special collection resources of national and international significance, including collections such as the Beckett Collection, the Cole Museum, Ure Museum, and the Museum of English Rural Life.

Prior to their decision to move to SaaS, the University of Reading tested the waters by implementing SirsiDynix SaaS at their new Malaysia location. The successful implementation of SaaS at Malaysia encouraged the University of Reading to take the step of migrating their much larger Berkshire system onto SaaS. The new multi-year contract will benefit library management functions with robust performance, 99.95% uptime, and industry-leading security measures for its data.

Sue Egleton, Head of Systems and User Services for the University of Reading Library, said, " Symphony continues to be a good fit for our library's needs, and we are reassured by SirsiDynix's accreditations and security arrangements for its SaaS service. SirsiDynix SaaS will help us deliver an improved service to students, building on last year's improvement in our NSS student satisfaction ratings."

"We are excited the University of Reading has chosen to move to SirsiDynix SaaS," said SirsiDynix CEO Bill Davison. "Our industry-leading hosting solution will provide Reading with a dependable, expansive solution. Through BLUEcloud Campus, they will enjoy more flexible access, while continuing to rest easy in the knowledge that their data is protected by some of the most rigorous security measures on the market."
