June 12, 2015 (New York, Tel Aviv) — As its library outreach continues, with millions of patrons now enjoying access to Total Boox in library systems across the United States, the pay-as-you-read metered ebook service is pleased to announce it has recently reached agreements with the world's most respected travel publishers: Lonely Planet, Berlitz, and Insight Guides. Participating libraries can now give their patrons instant access to hundreds of travel guides to every corner of the globe.
"Total Boox' innovative pay-as-you-read model lends itself particularly well to the travel category," said Mirela Roncevic, Director of Content for Total Boox. "Travel guides are often not consumed cover to cover. So why pay full price if all a traveler needs is information about top ten attractions? And why not allow patrons to download as many guides as they want and let them absorb the parts directly related to their travel interests? The more barriers we eliminate, the more opportunities we create for all involved, including readers, publishers, and libraries. "
With Total Boox, library patrons may download any travel guide they want, take it on the road with them, access it from anywhere, and read it online or offline. The parts that a patron reads from each guide—and only those parts that are actually read—are paid for by the library and remain on the patron's device indefinitely."
To celebrate these important agreements and in anticipation of the American Library Association conference in San Francisco this month, Total Boox is giving all librarians free access to its entire collection of ebooks, including those from Berlitz, Lonely Planet, and many other fine publishers with books about the Bay Area. This includes 12 Bay Area and California travel guides, plus mysteries, romances, and sports books—all related to the City by The Bay.
The free access will run through the end of July, so librarians have enough time to enjoy the books—even make travel plans beyond ALA—just as if they were patrons of one of Total Boox' customer libraries. Like a patron, they can download as many books as they want, and read them at their leisure.
