Lake Norman, NC -- June 09, 2015. ToxPlanet announced today that it has acquired Expert Publishing (ExPub) from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). The deal adds the premier provider of up-to-date, decision support chemical information for the global product stewardship, toxicology and chemical safety communities to ToxPlanet's line of solutions.
ExPub products are designed to help companies and agencies that use or regulate chemicals save time and money by providing a single platform for users to find the latest, up-to-date documents on chemical hazards and toxicology on demand. ExPub databases provide access to over seven million documents containing comprehensive human and/or environmental hazard data needed to manage the impact of chemicals in the workplace or on the environment.
ExPub provides more than 150 collections containing millions of documents from government and licensed sources covering more than 400,000 unique substances and accessible via 2.25 million chemical names and synonyms. Databases include: ChemEXPERT, ReproEXPERT, ListEXPERT, DrugEXPERT, PoisonEXPERT, R2 Ė REACH Registrations, and MSDSonline.
Matt Timberlake, General Manager of ToxPlanet, says this acquisition is a great fit for their company. "ToxPlanet is building a platform to provide professionals in toxicology and its related sciences a suite of analytical, intelligence, regulatory, and decision-support solutions. Fast, reliable access to chemical hazard and toxicology information is a key component the ExPub products address. Adding the ExPub products gives us the opportunity to accelerate our other initiatives."
Owned by EBSCO since 2010, ExPub has seen double-digit annual growth, introduced multiple new products, and increased its unprecedented depth and breadth of content. EBSCO Vice President of Product Management, Tad Goltra, says that the change of ownership will be advantageous for both ExPub and EBSCO. "In the past five years, ExPub has continued to develop into the premier resource for environmental health and safety professionals around the world. We are pleased that Matt and his team will continue moving ExPub forward while EBSCO will be able to sharpen its focus on its corporate and government products."
The global impact of the REACH regulations and similar legislation around the world, including efforts in Congress to reform American chemical regulatory policies, emphasize the importance of having access to comprehensive and authoritative information on the potential hazards of chemicals.
Judy Martin, Director of Global Sales at ExPub, says fast reliable access is essential to the professionals using these databases. "Our users include toxicologists, industrial hygienists, physicians, product stewards, safety managers, and other risk assessment professionals. ExPub databases include critical information for creating and maintaining healthy and compliant workplaces, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and label authoring, product safety evaluations, regulatory submissions, and chemical risk assessments."
Founded in early 2015, ToxPlanet is building a suite of software as a service (SaaS) analytical, intelligence, regulatory, and decision-support solutions designed to address the spectrum of information and decision-support needs for product stewardship, toxicology, and chemical safety professionals.
