The Evergreen open-source software community is pleased to announce the release of version 2.8 of the Evergreen software.
Released on March 31, 2015, Evergreen 2.8 features many new enhancements, including:
- A new patron message center where patrons can read notifications while logged into their account;
- A number of public catalog enhancements to better support discoverability by web search engines;
- Usability improvements to the public catalog;
- New options to add more flexibility to the billing system;
- Acquisitions improvements to detect if the ordering library already owns a copy of a title that is being ordered;
- Support for matching authority records during MARC import.
This release is a result of code and documentation contributions from 20 different individuals representing 16 organizations in the Evergreen community, along with financial contributions from four Evergreen sites that sponsored development.
Evergreen 2.8 is available to all for download from the Evergreen web site at http://evergreen-ils.org/
The Evergreen community is made up of individuals, libraries, companies, and other organizations that support the Evergreen Integrated Library System. Evergreen is highly-scalable software that helps patrons find library materials and helps libraries manage, catalog, and circulate those materials, no matter how large or complex the libraries. More than 1,500 libraries around the world use Evergreen.
