RNIB set to enhance library services with Infor

February 2015 – Infor Libraries today announced that the Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB) has deployed its V-smart library management system. An initial step in its on-going initiative to ensure library operations are meeting the specific needs of customers, RNIB selected Infor's V-smart system to support and help provide a scalable solution for the future.

RNIB offers a wide range of reading choices across its library and newsagent services. To meet its customers' needs the organisation delivers this content in a number of specialist formats and delivery mechanisms. With increasing volumes and format diversity, the organisation identified a need for a solution to support both book sales and subscriptions, and crucially, provide a modern, relevant, tailored service for customers.

Having deployed the system, RNIB is working towards having its entire library and newsagent material indexed in a consistent format as well as providing an easy to use, single log-in screen to access all information. Once completed, this will save time and reduce training requirements, allowing RNIB to provide a faster, more relevant service to customers. It is anticipated that significant cost savings will be realised as a result.

Infor's General Manager for Libraries, Ann Melaerts, comments, "I am delighted with the speed of implementation and success of this high profile project. At a recent review meeting with RNIB I was pleased to hear that they had made significant progress in service development within the last six months working with Infor. The specialist service facilities Infor has developed for libraries serving people with print disabilities is in use in national organisations in Canada, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland and now the UK."
