The Kuali Foundation recently concluded Kuali Days 2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana, with the announcement that the Kuali Financial System (KFS) Project Board has voted to engage with KualiCo for product development leadership. KualiCo is a new company that delivers cloud-based software for higher education. KFS is a modular, open source suite of financial software designed specifically for higher education that is offered via the cloud by KualiCo.
Members of the KFS project board expressed enthusiasm about the new opportunities made possible by this agreement. KualiCo will lead a single product development team, while the KFS Board continues to set priorities for expenditure of foundation funds. "The KFS Board wants to ensure it is easy to evaluate and adopt Kuali software, to leverage our community as a differentiator, and to provide a strong cloud option," said Lynn Johnson, KFS Board Chair and Associate Vice President for Finance and CFO at Colorado State University.
By centralizing product leadership, the project team will be able to develop products more efficiently. Chris Coppola, KualiCo Chief Operating Officer, stated, "KualiCo currently provides financial management in the cloud, and institutions can subscribe today. The new arrangement with the KFS community will accelerate product development and make it easier for colleges and universities to discover, evaluate, and adopt the only cloud-based financial management solution designed exclusively for higher education, by higher education."
"Working with KualiCo, we will be able to deliver even better, faster and more cost effective outcomes for higher education in the next decade," Johnson said. "Personally, my vision is for the move to Kuali to be the last move institutions of higher education make in delivering major ERP system solutions to their campuses. We continue to value our motto, ‘Keep Your Money in Your Mission!'"
